Kultummel-Tour

Kultummel-Tour: What to expect….

1000 sqm in the former assembly hall of the listed machine factory are turned into an exciting Kultummel-world. At each station – the pop-ups – visitors big and small find fascinating activities, questions and stimuli regarding topics of cultural and human diversity. The pop-ups play with the abundance of diversity, which can be found in cultures, but also in goods, thoughts and the individualities of the human race. The discovery of diversity starts at the large world course with a visit to the six continents, a first chance to change perspectives, to look at each other, to reflect and to start communicating with each other… Then it’s just: Fly, Diversifly!

WelcomeWhere to, where from and which way?

Willkommen – Wohin, woher und wo entlang?

Everybody hereEverybody here? Wonderful.

Which meanings are there for diversity? Look at yourself – and look around you! Discover diversity from head to toe. How long are pinkies, how equal are hair colours, how diverse are noses? And who is holding the record regarding the right big toe?

Unpackedout and about on colourful routes.

About leaving, being on route, and arriving. What is necessary to feel at ease whilst traveling? What is happening en route? Which are the routes diversity uses? In the suitcase store and the sock shop, you are invited to marvel! Pieces of luggage wait to be packed, beautifully coloured socks tell stories, and thoughts start travelling.

Changed clothesDiversity attracts us…

To the changing room, please! The boutique inspires us to a sensual fashion trip across continents and cultures. Where does diversity live? What is it that makes our surrounding so manifold? Have fun with playing and experimenting with clothes of all sorts.

Eye-catcherclap your hands!

Clear the stage for all diversiflies! Lots of talent, so many new things, so much to try out: On stage, everyone can participate and show their talent, share their ideas and do what they love.

All the colours of the worldPlay with all colours with no limits.

Every city is full with all sorts of buildings and stories – some to live in, some to work, to enjoy, to pray or to get well. Build routes, beings, houses and many colourful wonders …

Course of sensesDiscover your surrounding with all your senses.

How humid does the forest smell? How bright is the dessert? How noisy is the city? How salty does the ocean taste? And how cold is a glacier? Every living environment is different. This you can see, hear, smell – or feel.

Changeablepsst and attention, please! Watch and chill.

Relax, read and become even smarter – with films from all over the world and the clever stories about Knietzsche, the smallest philosopher of the world …

Homey lightAt home: Turn on the light for your thoughts.

Thoughts about home „enlighten“ us and let us open our eyes wide for the silhouette of the world and other things about being or feeling at home.
Children from Berlin and Seattle, USA, created the pictures about “home”.

Exchanged Reading, writing, speaking, experimenting …

Languages can be quite „colourful“ and diverse… In this bookstore, the world’s languages tumble out of the shelves. Plentiful books, stories and games are ready for the visitors to explore.

Kultummel’s kitchendiversity in the saucepan.

Head or pot: How much Kultummel is in which? By smelling, tasting, sorting the shelves and fridge as well as by preparing the dishes of the world, we fill a gap of knowledge here and there.

Diversity labBe colourful. Be a diversifly. Get your hands in!

During one of the many workshops on offer, you can change into a diversifly. With changing topics, the children can shape their own ideas about diversity in an active, creative way and with lots of Kultummel.

Pop-up diversityAlways different. Always good.

In our „Sharing Space“, there is plenty of room for diversity and for our guests. With changing offers for researching, marveling and unfolding. After our collaboration with AMPELMANN BERLIN with a presentation of traffic light men from all over the world, we now showcase, together with C/O Berlin, the photo exhibit KHALAT – PHOTOGRAPHIE AS ENCOUNTER, expressive portraits of girls living in the refugee shelter on Straßburger Straße. These pictures resulted from a workshop directed by Constanze Flamme and Katja Schütt, and not only show the girls’ examination of the genre Portrait, but also their joy about acting and encounter.
